The Floating Classroom Project is growing! - The Floating Classroom project has enjoyed a good deal of success during its first six years, but there is much to do. We hope to establish new subcommittees of experienced, motivated community members focusing on Curriculum Development and Fund Raising. Consider joining one of the Floating Classroom Committees - contact Bill Foster to learn more. Talk to your friends and teachers about the Floating Classroom Project…help spread the word!

Why is this a good idea for Cayuga Lake?
  • Only one similar program exists in Central New York- on Seneca Lake.
  • This hands-on experience truly engages students and allow them to learn on their own terms.
  • Floating Classroom can be linked nicely with in-school curricula
  • Cruising Cayuga Lake provides a unique vantage point for understanding the relationship between
human history and use of the lake, and the ecology and health of the lake itself... its all about creating
    a Sense of Place!
